Almost Finished

Almost There

Here's my son Shane and my good friend "Stubby" who came and worked very hard for a few days on the pond, taking a well earned break for "cold one". Since I bought some just for the occasion, it was time.

"Stubby" has a couple of ponds in his own back yard and he's the one I got most of my good ideas from. I think he's decided to build another one this year. Good grief, does it ever end?

The Last Of The Rocks

Yep, I think so. It's almost the end of the rocks. I looked around and didn't see any more in the driveway, and I surely wasn't planning on buying anymore, so I figured we were almost done piling and piling and piling and..... well, you get the idea.

Right where those rocks end is where we started laying the new lawn. I'm a bit too impatient for watching grass grow so I bought sod. It took about 50 rolls to cover all the mess that was made with the machinery but with two or three inches of topsoil spread underneath, it looked pretty darned good when we were done.

A Few Touch-Up Rocks

As you can see at the near end of the photo, we added some more rocks. Don't ask me where they got them from, I really didn't care just so long as I didn't have to move them. Actually, I didn't have to move any of them really, they wouldn't let me do any of the heavy stuff.

I think it was just a short while until they were really finished with all the rocks and here you find Shane and his girlfriend Miri taking a long awaited break in the shade.

Finished, Finito!

Finally, the finished product, as far as the actual building of the pond goes. Of course it now needs a bunch of greenery in, and around the pond and that stuff came a day or two later from "Stubby" who lifted them out of his own pond and brought them over to mine. Now that's a good friend, wouldn't you say?. It's so nice to have friends like that. A few days later, a couple of detectives, Niki and Terry, from where I work came over to look at the new watering hole and they also brought a couple of Iris's for the new pond. Good friends indeed. It didn't take me more than a few minutes to get them planted either.
